Digital X-Rays
Dental X-rays at Sun Dental are fast, thorough and very low risk. At every phase of treatment in which x-rays are needed, we use the latest in digital technology to give you rapid, accurate diagnostic results with much less radiation than conventional x-rays.

Because they are computerized, the digital x-rays utilize sensors rather than film. Sensors require much less radiation to yield an image. This means that our patients experience only a very low level of radiation when they are x-rayed.

Laser Technology
Laser diagnostics
We
use the Diagnodent Laser Imaging Wand, which detects
decay below the surface of tooth enamel. This is a very non-invasive
technique.
By using this technology, we can detect cavities early and address them before the tooth decays badly.
Laser soft-tissue and bone surgery
Laser technology also aids Dr. Sun and Dr. Heidi in performing precise soft-tissue surgery. They use the dental lasers to reshape gum tissue and bone to expose healthier tooth structure. This reshaping provides a stronger foundation for the placement of restorations. impression materials, we can obtain clean, fast digital impressions
in a few minutes using a laser scanner in the mouth.
Then, while you watch, we custom-design a crown, veneer, or filling perfectly suited for you based on your condition, using the chairside computer-based design center. From there, the information about the restoration is transferred to the in-office milling unit, where your crown, veneer, or filling is made. Shortly thereafter, it’s permanently placed in your mouth.
Benefits of same day dentistry

Your new tooth is milled out of a small block of ceramic using a diamond-cutter. This process takes 4 to 6 minutes depending on the size of the replacement tooth. Your dentist then bonds the new ceramic replacement into place.

Images of your teeth are easily captured and magnified using our Wireless Intra-Oral Cameras with Accessory Magnification. These cameras show close-up views of fillings, fractured teeth, and, with the details visible, can enable your dentist to diagnose problems unseen by the naked eye. Image capturing capabilities allow us to save before and after views of a treatment. It also allows us to send images electronically to the insurance companies, along with our digital x-rays, speeding up the processing time for your insurance claims.
In surgery, and for hygienic procedures, our highly trained professionals use Orascoptic Plasma Arc Magnification and Intra-oral Lighting Surgical Telescopes. These tools allow the dentist or hygienist to view the teeth with fullnon-shadowed lighting and extreme magnification. Any fractures, imperfections, decay and anomalies are easily detected with this system.

We feature the use of ultrasonic scalers and instrumentation in six operatories.
By using Kavo High Speed Electronic handpieces, our
patients
experience virtually no vibration during drilling. This is a
very quiet drill with excellent precision. For large decay removal,
we use Kavo Slow Speed Electric handpieces, which
are very gentle on the nerve.
Our Electronic Pulp Tester will help us determine if the pulp of a tooth is healthy or not, while our Electronic Shade Matching System will ensure that we determine the correct color, hue and chroma of any individual teeth, crowns or groups of teeth.

PerioProtect is
a new and effective non-surgical treatment of periodontal (gum) disease.
The treatment consists of using an FDA cleared medical device which
delivers antimicrobial agents to treat the infection.
The PerioProtect non-surgery treatment uses a patented and FDA cleared device called Perio Trays. After a through examination, we take impressions of your teeth and gums. A PerioProtect licensed dental laboratory then constructs the Perio Trays from your custom prescription.
We are the only office in Lake County certified to use this technology, which can virtually reverse the effects of periodontal disease.
